Founded in 1860, Universitatea Alexandru Ioan Cuza din Iasi is the oldest university in Romania. With slightly more than 21 thousand students, this public university featured a very high research output relative to its size and was ranked among the top 1000 in the world according to QS World University Rankings 2020.
